How to play Star Battle
- Place exactly one star in every row, every column, and every colored region.
- Stars cannot touch each other, even diagonally. A star rules out all eight neighboring cells.
- Mark cells that cannot contain a star. Use the mark tool to keep track of your deductions.
- Complete every row, column, and region to finish. There is no time limit, so take your time.
A few tips to get you going
- Start with the smallest regions. If every possible star position in a region touches a nearby cell, that cell cannot hold a star.
- Look at rows and columns together. If a region must use one particular row, the rest of that row can be ruled out.
- Use a hint when you are stuck, then check the surrounding cells. Undo lets you back out of a guess without restarting.

What are the rules of Star Battle?
In this one-star version, each row, column, and colored region needs exactly one star. No pair of stars may touch horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
Can I play more than once a day?
Yes. Play the daily puzzle or switch to practice for another board. The launch collection includes 6×6 and 8×8 boards, with rotations and reflections for more practice.
Does every board have one solution?
Every board in our collection has been checked for a unique solution. Mark ruled-out cells and compare the remaining spaces in each row, column, and region. Hints are available if you get stuck.
Will my puzzle be saved?
Progress is saved in this browser when local storage is available. It does not sync between devices and can be lost if you clear site data or use private browsing.
